Skye's work marries abstraction and expressionism. In it, she explores the sweetness and ardour of young romance which, like spring blooms, bursts with vigour, but soon reveals its fragility.
While Skye's work recognises that with change and loss come darkness, ultimately, her bold, beautiful pieces affirm the desire to live in the moment and rejoice in the beauty and the light.
Llewellyn Skye was born in Gosford and is known simply as Skye. Graduating with a BFA from the National Art School in 2005, she later studied further at the Sydney Gallery School.
